Every year on August 29, National Sports Day is celebrated on the occasion of the birthday of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand Singh. By his extraordinary talent, the Indian hockey team won the gold in the Olympic in 1928, 1932 and 1936. He has scored over 800 goals in his entire career, from 1926 to 1949. He received the Padma Bhushan award on behalf of the Government of India. His name is the highest award in the field of sports in India. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given by his name, the Major Dhyan Chand Award.

Sports keep us mentally healthy and our bodies fit. It helps to live healthy, prevent disease. Teenagers, in particular, should be involved in all kinds of sports. This is because of their mental and overall fitness. Here are a few games to keep the teens fit -

Swimming

5) Tennis - Tennis is another great sport for teenagers. It strengthens and flexes muscles, increases bone density, improves metabolism, lowers blood pressure.

6) Volleyball - Volleyball is another healthy sport that teenagers should play. It improves metabolism, keeps the mind good. According to Harvard Medical School, a person can burn 5 to 8 calories by playing half-volleyball.






Badminton

7) Badminton - Badminton is another healthy sport, which increases bone density, improves heart, improves metabolism and increases muscle strength.








Gymnastics 

8) Gymnastics - Gymnastics helps keep the body fit. Teenagers should do gymnastics because it drives the physical and mental focus. It makes the body strong and flexible.

9) Rowing - Rowing can increase muscle strength. It helps maintain a healthy weight.
